Purdy started as a true freshman at Iowa State in 2018 and never stopped, logging 47 games across four seasons as the Cyclones' full-time starter. The production was remarkably consistent: 67.7% career completion, 11,848 yards, 252.1 per game, 80 touchdowns against 30 interceptions (2.7:1), with 1,144 rushing yards and 19 rushing touchdowns providing a secondary dimension. His best volume season was 2019 (3,982 yards, 306.3 per game, 27 touchdowns), while 2021 brought his highest completion rate at 71.7% with improved decision-making (19 TD, 8 INT in 13 games) even as the yardage dipped to 245.2 per game. 212 pounds with a 4.84 forty and a 27-inch vertical at the combine. The athleticism is limited but functional. Iowa State never had elite weapons around him, and Big 12 defenses consistently schemed against the Cyclones' best player, yet Purdy posted four straight seasons above 65% completion and never missed a start.
