Pre-draft scouting report
Nobody's done what Baker Mayfield did. A walk-on at Texas Tech who threw for 2,315 yards as a freshman, he transferred to Oklahoma and turned himself into the most productive quarterback in Big 12 history. Across 48 career games, Mayfield completed 68.5% of his passes for 14,607 yards (304.3 per game) with 131 touchdowns against just 30 interceptions, a 4.4:1 TD/INT ratio that's absurd for that conference. The progression tells the story: 284.6 yards per game as a sophomore, 305 as a junior, and 330.5 in his Heisman-winning senior year where he threw 43 touchdowns to 6 picks at a 70.5% clip. Added 1,083 career rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns for good measure. At 215 pounds with a 4.84 forty and 29-inch vertical, the physical profile is the reason scouts argued about him right up until draft night. The arm plays, the competitiveness is off the charts, but the height will be a talking point for as long as he plays. R1.1 for a polarizing prospect whose historic production and relentless fire either translate to franchise quarterback or become the greatest college passing resume that couldn't overcome physical limitations.
